Billie Eilish arrasa en los Grammy al ganar los cuatro principales premios

Reuters.– La sensación adolescente Billie Eilish arrasó el domingo en los Grammy al ganar los cuatro principales premios: álbum, canción, grabación del año y mejor artista nuevo.

Eilish, una recién llegada de 18 años, ganó un Grammy a la grabación del año por su disco debut de estudio “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” y un premio a su sencillo “Bad Guy” como canción del año.

La cantante de Los Ángeles grabó el álbum con su hermano Finneas en su habitación.

“No hicimos este disco para ganar un Grammy. Escribimos sobre depresión y pensamientos suicidas y cambio ambiental”, dijo Finneas cuando ambos recibieron los premios. “Estamos aquí confundidos y agradecidos”, agregó.

Lizzo, otra figura nueva, ganó tres premios Grammy y el rapero country Lil Nas X recibió dos por su tema viral “Old Town Road” que hizo en colaboración con Billy Ray Cyrus.

La ceremonia de entrega de los Premios Grammy comenzó con un homenaje a la estrella del baloncesto Kobe Bryant, quien murió en un accidente de helicóptero fuera de Los Ángeles el domingo más temprano.

Los Grammy se celebraron en el Staples Center de Los Ángeles, hogar de Los Angeles Lakers, el equipo de Bryant.

“Es devastador”, dijo el cantante DJ Khaled en la alfombra roja. “Es difícil tener buena onda en este momento, pero lo vamos a hacer”, agregó.

Harvey Mason Jr, el director interino de la Academia de Grabación, pidió un momento de silencio antes de comenzar la transmisión del show. Las noticias de la muerte de Bryant en un accidente de helicóptero llegaron aproximadamente una hora antes del inicio.

“Considerando que estamos en su casa, me gustaría pedirles que se unan en un momento de silencio”, dijo Mason.

Los ganadores del Grammy son elegidos por miembros de la Academia de Grabación, que actualmente está envuelta en una disputa por la salida de su nueva presidenta ejecutiva Deborah Dugan y sus acusaciones de conflictos de intereses en el proceso de nominación. La institución ha negado las acusaciones.
